Briefing Session: Child Protection Conferences – Strengthening Families based model

Location:Brighton
Type:Briefing session
Dates:
Duration:2-4pm

Why is the LSCB providing this course?

Brighton & Hove Children Services are adopting a new model for child protection conferences, based on the Strengthening Families model used widely across the country. The model aims to improve family involvement in creating a plan to reduce risk in their family and will shift the emphasis within the conference to concentrate on developing a shared understanding of risk, protective factors, complicating factors and areas still unknown in order to create an effective plan.

Target Audience:

Members of staff, who work predominantly with children, young people and their families, parents or carers, and who could potentially contribute to the assessment, intervention and reviewing the safeguarding needs for a child or young person, where there are safeguarding concerns, and or potential risks.

Learning Outcomes:

After completing this course you will …..

    • have an overview of the new model of conference practice.
    • what the new model means for them in terms of preparing for and taking part in the new conference model.
    • be able to be a confident participant in future child protection conferences.
