Harmful Practices Workshop: Female Genital Mutilation

Brighton & Hove Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB), and the Safe in the City Partnership, are holding this full day workshop on Harmful Practices to raise awareness of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), and the effect this practice has on victims, as well as a focus on how practitioners can work to safeguard children from this abuse and support families.
We are delighted that Hibo Wardere will be speaking about her own experiences, which she has written about in her book “CUT”, and the current work she does to raise awareness of FGM and the impact on survivors of this abuse.
This workshop will be a mixture of presentations and interactive elements, with participants being able to engage in questions and answers with the presenters.

• To raise the awareness of what FGM is
• To increase the knowledge of practitioners around dealing with FGM
• To provide details of current procedures
• To enable staff to access training programmes
• To hear directly from those directly affected by FGM
• To consider local practice, in dealing with FGM
